A Rodeo Meeting

Hello Farm Friends,

NEED BERRIES? If you are in the mood for Strawberries then Rocky Glade Farm can meet your needs! Our berries are in peak performance right now. If you would like to place an order this week we will be open on the farm on Tuesday night from 3-6pm.

This past week we pulled one over on Dylem! With an inquisitive five year old mind that is no easy feat! He has wanted to go to a rodeo for over a year now, but since most of them begin around his bedtime we were not sure how to pull that off. This past week we made arrangements to attend the Franklin Rodeo on Thursday night. All that Dylem knew was that we were going to a "meeting" at the Ag Center. I told him he could wear his boots because they had dirt floors. I knew he would be so mad if he actually attended a rodeo and was not properly attired. He griped and complained about this "meeting" we had to go to. You could tell he was pretty put out with us as parents. When we arrived at the Ag Center, you could of course tell this was no normal "meeting" and so Jim broke the news to him. It was worth every bit of tug and pull it took to get us to the rodeo to see that boy's face. There have been a handful of times in his short life that I have seen the look of sheer joy mixed with surprise and disbelief. I will treasure Dylem's rodeo "meeting" forever. There are few opportunities in parenting where you feel like you are doing something right, you gotta enjoy it when that passes your way. And we did!

This coming week, we add another member to the farm crew, Tim Carey! Yeah, he has been around here since he was 13 and just this past week he graduated from Eagleville High School! Congrats Tim on a huge milestone!

Strawberries
This is our first year to try strawberries and so far so good. The berries inside our hoophouses are really in peak performance right now. Strawberries are available on the farm on Tuesday afternoons from 3-6, through Stones River Market, and on Saturday at the Franklin Farmers Market from 8-1. We offer the berries in pints for 3.00 and quarts for 5.00 and gallons for 15.00. Our variety is Chandler, a super tasty fresh market berry. This berry is a great for fresh eating, freezing, cooking or canning, but be sure to use them fast as Chandlers do not hold very well for more than 2-3 days.

Stones River Market, Murfreesboro fresh food option
We are proud to be members of the Stones River Market, a member of locallygrown.net. This is a great advancement for farmers allowing customers to become members of an "online" market, choosing products from many area farmers, but picking up their orders in one location, with one bill and your food all ready to go! Please visit . Stones River Market Locally Grown to see this week's list of available items. Orders can be placed Sunday-Tuesday (you get an email telling you the market is open after you sign up!) Delivery in Murfreesboro is in the downtown area around Cannonsburg/Hoopers Supply. For more information please visit the website and contact the market manager!
