Happy Birthday America and Caleb!

Hello Farm Friends,

Happy 4th of July weekend and Happy Birthday to Caleb on the 3rd! In 2007, I was convinced he was going to be my little firecracker baby. We only missed the 4th of July date by a few hours. The great thing about his birthday being around a holiday is that it helps me remember. I should not need help remembering my own flesh and blood's birthday, but hey, it is the middle of summer and sometimes we get a bit busy! I asked him what he wanted to his birthday and he said "Pizza". So we are making dough as we speak (ok, well the bread machine is!) and we will have pizza tonight in honor of Mr. Caleb James Vaughn as he likes to be called (no nicknames please) and we will open a few presents and then mommy will need a moment to recompose herself and realize that her "baby" is now 3!

Speaking of 4th of July, we hope you have a great one. The 4th of July usually makes me cry. I think of all the things that America has gone through to be America, to have the freedom we have and that freedom has cost a great deal in a great many ways. We are blessed to live in a nation that it is actually OK and guaranteed to disagree in a peaceful fashion. VERY few other nations can claim this. Sometimes I think we take that for granted. Being able to believe what you want to believe openly is an amazing freedom.

I want to say "thank you" to all Americans out there because it takes all of us working and living together to make this nation great and strong. God bless America and Happy 4th of July.
