August around the corner

Hello Farm Friends,

Ha! Am I the only one who cannot believe August is already here? It seems way too early for all the back to school stuff and talk about fall fashion. Our summer CSA is drawing to a close and folks are asking about pumpkins and winter squashes, and the winter hours of the market. I guess everyone is thinking of cooler weather and planning ahead!

Yay for rain! We got a bit of rain on Saturday morning before we left for the Franklin Market. I just opened the door and listened to the lovely sound of the rain falling and thanked God for sending the rain just in time!

This past week, we all grabbed our hoes and chopped weeds in the next garden area we will harvest in. This is actually one of Dylem's favorite farm activities, go figure? We also went ahead and laid some drip irrigation lines down since the hot and dry trend is expected to continue into August. Surprisingly this is another of Dylem's favorite activities.

This week Kels will be taking a much needed vacation with some of her MTSU Ag Department buddies. That will leave us to go it alone, but I am sure we will make it work, especially if we can keep finding "fun" jobs for Dylem to help with.

We hope you have a great week and a great start to August!

Canning Maters? If you are interested in being put on a list for canning tomatoes, please let me know. They are usually available on Friday/Saturday of the week.

DON"T FORGET about the Tuesday Franklin Farmers Market from 3-6:30. There are lots of great farms with lots of good food, breads, jams, berries, milk, meat and veggies. The bonus feature is there is plenty of parking (close)!

Have a great week and try to stay cool
Love,
Julie

Please visit . Stones River Market Locally Grown to see this week's list of available items. Orders can be placed Sunday-Tuesday (you get an email telling you the market is open after you sign up!) Delivery in Murfreesboro is in the downtown area around Cannonsburg/Hoopers Supply. For more information please visit the website and contact the market manager!
