May 2013

Hello Farm Friends,

Welcome to May! Normally by now the weather has felt like summer for a few weeks, but this year has been an exception. It has been a slow, wet spring, which in some ways is really great and in others well not so good. There is always a silver lining and ours would be that our "winter" things have not bolted, the weather has been pleasant to work in and all the pastures look great! The downside to the wet spring is that we just can't get in to plant the spring and summer crops. However, we are not the only ones and just as soon as the weather dries up a bit I bet all of Middle Tennessee will be planting as hard as they can go!

Strawberries are in for us right now and available through Stones River Online Market, Pa Bunks grocery on the square in Mboro, or at the Franklin Farmers Market on Saturdays at the Factory. The cool weather has been nice to them and they continue to bloom well.

We have lots of things ahead of us this spring/summer. Our CSA is set to begin in June and all drop off points are full this summer, our beef is currently finishing on this wonderful spring pastures and they will be leaving the farm in May and June. There is always hay to get up, planting to do and harvesting each week in addition to caring for bees, sheep, boys and babies. Truly we are not in want of anything to occupy our attention these days, but life is good! If you don't hear from me in June, just know I am busy and we will get another newsletter out as soon as possible!

We hope to grow for you this summer!
Have a wonderful summer!

We have several ways you can get our produce during the Summer months. The Franklin Farmers Market on Saturdays, Stones River On-line Market, and Pa Bunks Grocery

The Franklin Farmers Market is now open for the Summer Market. Summer hours are 8-1 each Saturday all summer long.

We will NOT reopen our on farm market as we had originally planned to do this spring. We will reopen this fall when our fall crops are ready.

Stones River Market is open for orders each Sunday through Tuesday with orders delivered to Murfreesboro on Wednesdays. This is a wonderful "market" for Murfreesboro where you can order from the comfort of your computer from many different farms, bakeries, etc and pickup in one location, just off the square in downtown Murfreesboro. For more information please visit Stones River Online Market.

Pa Bunks is now carrying Rocky Glade Produce in downtown Murfreesboro! For those of you who don't know Pa Bunks, it is quite cool! Corey Williams who owns it is one of the nicest folks you could ever hope to meet. He has a great variety of organic and natural products in his store including fresh produce, canned goods, ready to eat items, fresh locally made breads as well as sandwiches, fresh coffee and other drinks. If you are in the downtown area and need a break, go by Pa Bunks, grab a sandwich and drink and relax at Bunks! For more info visit Pa Bunks Organic Market.
