December 2013

Hello Farm Friends,

First of all, Merry Christmas! December is here! I have so enjoyed the anticipation of Christmas with our boys so far this year. Dylem is kind of hilarious with his gift giving. He will get someone a gift and will not come right out and tell them what it was, but ask questions like, "if you could have ANY rank of clone trooper what would it be? A sergeant, lieutenant, corporal?" Caleb will then give an answer, but if it is not the one Dylem was looking for (aka not what he got him) he will ask again, "would you say the LIEUTENANT" would be your most favorite rank of clone trooper? Oh thankfully Caleb is too young to get it. He thinks D is just asking questions. Hopefully Daddy thinks that too!

The December growing has been a bit slow, but I really can't blame the plants. They need sunshine and December hasn't had much of that so far. We feel like we are in good shape to provide yummy lettuces and greens to you in the new year! We plan to be at the Franklin Farmers Winter Market most every weekend and we will continue to offer produce through Stones River Market this winter.

We say goodbye to Brian Ader this week. Brian has worked here for around two years now and after his wife graduates from MTSU this weekend he will be heading back to East Tn to farm on his own. We wish him and Christina all kinds of happiness, green thumbs and patience as they begin their new journey! Thanks for all the help Brian!

Happy Birthday to Jacob and Justin! The twins are ONE. Amazing simply amazing this first year has been. When reading about twins before ours were born I heard comments about twice the joy 10 times the work. Sometimes yes the work is intense and as Jim says it feels like there are 8 of them, but the JOY? Let me say the JOY way overshadows the work and it is more than double! Happy Birthday little guys!

So Merry Christmas Ya'll. We are thankful to you for a wonderful year. Thanks for your love and support of our family through 2013 which saw us add twins to the family and Jim to take on a whole lot more of the daily operations and stress. You, our lovely friends and customers have been great to make Jim feel appreciated and our whole family loved. We hope you feel that love from us as well. We could not do this without you. Trust me when I say that as we plant/harvest/pack for market YOU are on our minds. Your individual names come up as new crops ripen and we anticipate the look on your face when you see your favorite crops are ready. We pray for you as we pray for our crops. You are loved in a way only a farmer can show it"good food!

So Merry Christmas to you all! May God bring peace to your hearts this December, such a peace so that no matter what life throws your way you won't miss THE COMING of God's Son, our Savior. Have you read the whole story in Luke? Just flip to Luke and start reading. It is amazing ALL the things that had to go just right for Jesus to be born, why it is quite the God story. May God write His story on your hearts this Christmas!

Franklin Farmers Market Changes come January 1st.. Beginning January 1st the Franklin Farmers Market will make a few changes for the winter months. The new winter hours will be 9-12. That is usually in effect until April. I will let you know when they change again. Also, by vote of customers after January 1st pets will no longer be permitted at the market. Want to know what we are bringing to the market each Saturday? Would you like to be able to pre-order? Sign up for the RGF Franklin News HERE. on the lower left hand side of our homepage and each time we bring goodies to the market, you will know ahead of time what is "growing on".

We have several ways you can get our produce during the Winter months. The Franklin Farmers Market on Saturdays, Stones River On-line Market, and Pa Bunks Grocery

The Franklin Farmers Market is now open for the Winter Market. Hours are 9-12.

Stones River Market is open for orders each Sunday through Tuesday with orders delivered to Murfreesboro on Wednesdays. This is a wonderful "market" for Murfreesboro where you can order from the comfort of your computer from many different farms, bakeries, etc and pickup in one location, just off the square in downtown Murfreesboro. For more information please visit Stones River Online Market.

Pa Bunks is now carrying Rocky Glade Produce in downtown Murfreesboro! For those of you who don't know Pa Bunks, it is quite cool! Corey Williams who owns it is one of the nicest folks you could ever hope to meet. He has a great variety of organic and natural products in his store including fresh produce, canned goods, ready to eat items, fresh locally made breads as well as sandwiches, fresh coffee and other drinks. If you are in the downtown area and need a break, go by Pa Bunks, grab a sandwich and drink and relax at Bunks! For more info visit Pa Bunks Organic Market.
