How Farmers Celebrate the 4th.

Hello Farm Friends,
We hope everyone has had a great long weekend celebrating our Independence with family and friends. Jim and I gave our kid crew the day off, so we celebrated our independence by wearing shorts…yeah we broke out the old shorts and sported our totally white legs around the farm. There really is something to that "farmer's tan" thing.
We replanted squash and beans on the 4th and a little shower popped up while we were harvesting "across the road". Dylem immediately began yelling at Jim and I that we should hurry it was going to rain. Apparently he has not read the memo that we work in the rain…we only stop for lightning and torrential downpours! We finished up across the road and came back to the house where we began to clean tomatoes and make CSA boxes in the "ground hog shed" (yes there is a story behind the name!). Anyway, we moved the pack and play out to the shed and toys and snacks and all sorts of other things to keep Caleb happy while we worked. He was miserable until Jim put him inside his own CSA box up on the table where we were working (see picture of the week). Then he sat there happy inside his four walls until he realized he could climb out…but what luck…we were finished by then! Naptime for the boys soon followed with promises for Dylem that if he napped he could stay up and watch the fireworks…it is good to have things to celebrate…and the freedom to celebrate them anyway you wish. Thanks again to everyone out there who has helped make freedom a possibility for our family! We appreciate you and your whole family's sacrifice.

Love
Julie

Franklin Farmers Market
We will be there this Saturday! July 12th. We are located at the end of the middle isle, end cap booth, on the music/food end of the market. We have blue tablecloths with chickens on them…Arugula's Star and High Lonesome Ranch are our neighbors…and if all of that doesn't help, just ask another farmer or customer!
